“Champs Heart started with all big horses but soon I knew a change was going to be needed! One day an autistic child who I had worked hard to get onto a horse was going around the arena and he started screaming at me. ‘Larry, Larry, get me off, get me off' I turned to him and asked him what was wrong. He said ‘I'm up here so high that it's making my nose run.’ So that's when I thought about getting a miniature horse. Mr. Personality, Doc, soon became our first miniature horse. He's quite the character, and will always be looking in your pockets for something to eat. He is also very good at unhooking the gates if you don't secure them properly. Here's what his previous owner says about Doc's life before he came to Champ's Heart: ‘Doc came to my herd to be a travel companion for an amped up barrel horse. My barrel horse was the only one I was hauling that year and traveling alone made her upset to the point she would not eat or drink. As soon as Doc joined our travels she settled right down and focused on her job. They shared a stall and turn out time.’ Everywhere Doc went he would gather his own fan club. He has always had that charisma! Nothing has made my heart happier than watching him become a staple of Champs Heart.”
